ARENA ARENA was born in Strasbourg, France as a result of a meeting between Mark Spitz, the charismatic swimming champion whose accomplishments included winning 7 gold medals during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, and Horst Dassler, the president of Adidas France, a sports aficionado, and the father of sports sponsorship.
The brand name “ARENA” is Spanish for sand, and was inspired by how the sands shimmered with a luster reminiscent of the surface of the water when hit by the brilliant Latin sun.
